Flowers Art by Jim FARRANT Modern Art and Artists at Red Rag Gallery Contemporary British Artist Jim Farrant was born and now lives with his young family in Somerset, UK. Having pursued a career as an artist for the last 25 years, Jim Farrant has had much success both nationally and internationally, with both with his Figurative art and Still Life paintings. Jim Farrants paintings cleverly combine a more abstract style of bold, visible brushstrokes with a tight and realistic outcome. This intelligent pairing of styles creates artworks that feel honest yet fresh and energetic. Hailing from a highly artistic family, Jim Farrant naturally fell into the world of figurative painting, guided by his artist father, David Farrant. Both father and son are renowned for their skilful paintings of female figures, often engrossed in everyday matters and set in attractive locations. The careful study of their subject matter for their paintings, allowing the perception of subtle shifts in body language, posture and movement, results in natural and sincere captured moments of beauty that emanate mood and narrative. Jim Farrant also paints striking still life artworks which harness the play of light across objects in his signature style. His clever choice of colour palette, teamed with this confident and resolute application of paint, elevate his still life paintings from the traditional to the contemporary and innovative. Too controlled to be considered painterly and yet clearly reminiscent of the immediacy captured by the abstract expressionist movement and impressionist style of applying painting, Jim Farrants artwork stands out as being most distinctive and unique in style.
